Carol of the Bells
If you have been searching for Carol of the Bells piano sheet music, you’ve come to the right place. The ‘Carol of the Bells’ is built on a simple, hypnotic pattern. I’ve put together this arrangement to help my students master ostinato rhythms without feeling overwhelmed. It’s also a useful study in dynamics—starting as a whisper and building to a resonant climax, to finally end in a descrescendo towards the end. Download the sheet music below and see if you can keep that ‘bell’ ringing steadily throughout!
Practice tips
- get the main ostinato right away.
- in bar 5 the E note in the LH should be cut a little short so the RH can play it on beat 3.
- same for bar 9.
- practice slight hand position changes in LH bars 13-16.
- bars 17-20: if you can’t reach the octaves, just play a single note.
- bars 21-24 RH: I intentionally wrote no fingerings, so you can use your brain and come up with an effective fingering for yourself. You can discuss your findings in the comments below.
- bars 25-28: in the video I divide the ascending scale passage between the two hands, but it can be played by the RH alone, as the score shows. Which option and fingering would you use?
- bar 28-29: big quick jump in LH. Practice that on its own.
Struggling with choosing fingerings or those LH jumps?
